GREEN HYDROGEN
Hydrogen Design and Commissioning Experience
Redrawn engineers have experience working across 8 Hydrogen projects
Two of the projects have already procced through construction and commissioning, providing Redrawn Engineers with world leading, Green Hydrogen design and commissioning experience. We have built a strong reputation for our knowledge and approach to Green Hydrogen projects. We can help take your project from concept through to commissioning.
Redrawn specializes in the hydrogen production process; developing Basis of Design documents, Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrument Diagrams, equipment sizing, pipeline design, vessel design, vessel inspection, electrolyser commissioning, hazardous area assessment, and most aspects of engineering design for a green hydrogen production facility.
Experience:
HypSA Hydrogen Plant
Redrawn director Huw Dent (Mechanical Engineer) was the lead mechanical detailed design and commissioning engineer of the Hydrogen Park South Australia electolysis plant. HypSA is an Australian first to deliver a renewable hydrogen blend to customers on the existing natural gas network.
Huw was responsible for leading a mechanical engineering team to deliver detailed design, construction support and commissioning supervision for a new demonstration hydrogen production facility in Tonsley SA. This innovative and industry leading project required the team to develop new skills and technical knowledge whilst delivering a safe and compliant design. This project won several awards within the state, nationally, and internationally.
Nation Leading Hydrogen Commissioning Experience
In 2024 the Government of South Australia was producing a facility in Whyalla SA, capable of 240MW hydrogen production, 100 Tonne hydrogen storage, and 200MW of hydrogen power generation; collectively called The Hydrogen Jobs Plan. This project was leveraging the state’s renewable energy to enable production and storage of clean hydrogen to produce green electricity, moving the state closer to 100% renewal electricity generation.
Redrawn principal engineers Huw Dent (Mechanical & Pipelines) and James Chervatin (Electrical & Controls) were engaged by the Office for Hydrogen Power South Australia, to support the design and development of the Hydrogen Jobs Plan.
Huw Dent was Engineering Manager for OHPSA, directing design work and providing valuable insight into turbine operation and electrolyser integration.
James Chervatin was Project Engineer for OHPSA, reviewing, evaluating, and iterating design decisions to improve constructability and operational safety.
Large Scale Hydrogen Production Design Experience
One of Redrawn’s clients received an international Hydrogen Compressor Refueling Skid that did not comply with Australian electrical standards. Redrawn was engaged to review all AS/NZS 3000 electrical power distribution, and AS/NZS 60079 hazardous area compliance for electrical equipment in flammable zones.
Redrawn specified the replacement of 90 control instruments, Hazardous Area Compliance documentation, Power & Control System modifications, and produced a scope of work to achieve compliance.
On Site Compliance Inspection, and Scoping.
Amarna Energy required a hazardous area specialist to provide technical guidance relating to the design and selection of electrical equipment for the Port of Brisbane Hydrogen Hub & Refueller. Redrawn provided technical expertise for this project by guiding international vendors in the production of electrolyser/refueller equipment compliant with Australian standards.
Local Engineering Support
MPX engaged Redrawn to completed detailed design of an LV switchboard, PLC control panel, instrumentation and cabling for Fortescue Future Industries, Hydrogen Electrolyser Factory, Automated Line Functional Test Station. Redrawn completed Single Line Diagrams, Power Schematics, General Arrangements, Equipment Lists, Bill of Materials, Cable Block Diagrams, Termination Diagrams and Earthing Diagrams, all issued for procurment and construction.
Complete Detailed Design
Hydrogen Refuelling Station
A long-term oil and gas company developed the concept design for a medium scale (10MW to 50MW) hydrogen refueling station, including liquid refueling. Redrawn principal mechanical engineer Huw Dent project managed and led the mechanical design for the equipment selection and general layout of the plant ahead of an Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) funding application and development approval.

Future Fuels and Carbon Neutral Industry
Redrawn supported The Hydrogen Utility (H2U) with engineering resources to develop green hydrogen and green ammonia projects across Australia.
H2U’s projects have significant export scale targets and have the potential to be world class assets leading the energy transition forward. By utilising Redrawn’s existing hydrogen and heavy industrial expertise, H2U was able to progress its concept designs for infrastructure that will support a decarbonised future for the global community.
Expert support for an emerging hydrogen supply chain
Hydrogen Refuelling Station
The Viva Energy, Geelong Refinery successfully received Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) funding for a New Energy Service Station. Redrawn Director Huw Dent led the mechanical design of the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) deliverables for the Hydrogen Refueling Station.
